A wonderful memory, this Saratoga thoroughbred art painting and sports memorabilia piece captures the atmosphere of the Saratoga Thoroughbred Racetrack.
The last week of the Saratoga meeting (late August) the weather starts to get a little colder in the mornings, less humid, and the sun sets a little sooner. On a late August day in 2003, as I was leaving the track, I saw the sun setting over the buildings. It was really breathtaking. I pulled my car into the horse crossing area and scaled the tower that holds the TV person (I only went up about 15ft.) As the sun sank behind the buildings I took some photos. The pictures came out very nice and so I decided to paint from one of them. The horses were added later to help fit the mood that I was trying to create. Autumn is a beautiful time of year at Saratoga - the foliage is awesome. This painting captures a little of the Autumn feeling and gives us a last look and a memory to hold onto.
The passage at the bottom of each Framed print reads;
'As the sun sets on another season at Saratoga, there is a tender feeling of loss. That of saying farewell to an old friend. Another chapter of Saratoga has been read willfully, patiently, and romantically. But the ending always comes too soon. And so, as the leaves begin to change, Saratoga, the keeper of memories, quietly slips into its peaceful slumber...remaining the setting where dreams do come true.'
